People are using their mobile phones more than ever and having a good mobile network with a reliable signal, good speeds and quality customer service has never been more important. Although, it is still crucial that you take time to look around at the different options available to you before you accept a deal. There are reputable mobile phone companies who can make buying a phone convenient and affordable.

Most Popular Mobile Networks

Vodafone was the UK’s first mobile network, launching all the way back in 1984. Over 35 years, the UK company has grown to become one of the world’s largest telecommunication providers, with its own mobile network in 25 countries.

Today, the company offers 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G coverage in the UK. This is available across a range of different price plans, including on both Pay Monthly and Pay As You Go.

O2 is one of the oldest mobile networks in the UK. They originally launched as Cellnet in 1985 and have been using the O2 brand since 2001. During their 31 years of operation, O2 has grown to become the UK’s 2nd largest network. They currently have 26 million subscribers and offer 99% population coverage across the UK.

Unique tariff offerings on O2 include the ability to build your own custom plan, with the cost of your airtime and device split into two separate agreements. O2 customers can also get access to the O2 Priority app which gives exclusive access to entertainment tickets up to 48 hours before general release.

EE (previously known as Everything Everywhere) claims to be the UK’s largest 4G and 5G mobile network. They offer 99% population coverage on 4G as well as 5G coverage in selected UK towns and cities.

Now part of the BT Group (alongside BT and Plusnet), EE offers Pay Monthly plans with inclusive Smart Benefits. They also offer Essential plans without these extra features and Pay As You Go plans with no need for a credit check.

In the UK, Lycamobile is a specialist provider of international phone calls. They offer Pay As You Go bundles from £5/month with 4G coverage from O2.
