What is the Youth Mobility Visa

The Youth Mobility Scheme is a great opportunity to work and travel in the UK, it allows young people from around the world to live and explore the country for up to two years. It provides temporary work permits to over 10 countries for people aged 18-30 and does not require any sponsorship from employers or family members. This visa is only granted once in a lifetime and is relatively straight forward compared to other visas to apply for.

Eligibility and Cost

To be eligible for a Working Holiday Visa UK you must meet some certain requirements such as being a first time applicant.

You will have to be a citizen of one of the below participating countries.

  • Australia – 30,000 places
  • Canada – 13,000 places
  • Hong Kong – 1,000 places
  • Japan – 1,500 places
  • Monaco – 1,000 places
  • New Zealand – 13,000 places
  • Republic of Korea – 1,000 places
  • San Marino – 1,000 places
  • Taiwan – 1,000 places
  • * British Overseas Territories Citizen

You must have sufficient funds when applying for the Youth Mobility Scheme visa, the total minimum costs will vary depending on your circumstances. The application fee for the visa is £244 as of April 2022, you will need to prove that that you have at least £2,530 in your bank account to support yourself, a bank statement will suffice. The bulk of your cost will be paying for healthcare which is £624 per year, if you are applying for a 2-year visa you will have to pay £624 each year, therefore you will have to pay a total of £1248 upfront.

You must be aged between 18-30 at the time of applying and enter before you are 31, the visa starts when you land in the UK.
